Orchid Medicare, manufacturer of healthcare products for care homes, nursing homes, community stores and hospitals – has appointed Steve Whitehall to head up the business as it embarks on a major programme of expansion.
He has joined Orchid as Clinical Business Development Manager after being Moving and Handling Co-ordinator for three years with the 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust in the North West. A qualified physiotherapist, he has spent 15 years working in the moving and handling sector, in community care, acute care and mental healthcare.
He said: “I’m very excited about heading up Orchid Medicare’s operations because of the plans for expansion and because I know that the design of Orchid’s products, the materials used and the way the products are manufactured is excellent.
“Following a substantial investment by the parent company, Kintech, Orchid Medicare will be launching new products, further developing existing ranges and also establishing a network of distributors throughout Britain, so we would be pleased to hear from any distributors who would like to become involved.”
“The potential for Orchid Medicare is tremendous. Now that we have got the infrastructure of the business in place it is time to ensure that everyone knows about the product ranges we have available,” he added.
Steve’s role will include carrying out individual risk assessments and equipment assessments to ensure that the products supplied by Orchid best meet the needs of the people using them.
Some of the most popular products in Orchid Medicare’s extensive range include a revolutionary 3 in 1 bath cradle, a tilt in space shower chair, a lifting shower trolley and a four-way profiling bed. All products are manufactured in-house, making Orchid one of a diminishing number of true UK manufacturers.
Tubular stainless steel materials ensure robust construction, anti bacterial powder coating provides added protection from infection and cross-contamination, and upholstery is hard wearing and easy to clean.
