Platinum Stairlifts are a British manufacturer of stairlifts, headquartered in Yorkshire and supplying stairlifts through a network of mobility dealers both in the UK and around the world. Established in 1996, Platinum have helped thousands of elderly and less-able-bodied people to re-discover the freedom of their home. By hand-building their stairlifts in the UK, Platinum not only continue to keep British manufacturing alive but also ensure that the quality of the lifts is second-to-none.
How would you describe your product range to trade customers?
Platinum Stairlifts have been designed to be some of the most adjustable products in the market, in order to meet the diverse requirements of less-able bodied customers. We offer two main product lines; the Horizon, for straight staircases and the Curve, for more complicated staircases with features such as integrated landings. Within these two main lines, it is possible to customise both the rail and the carriage for maximum comfort and functionality. The Platinum ERGO seat has been developed to feature a range of positions for the arms, seat pad and back, together with high weight tolerances and availability in a range of colours.
What do you think separates your products from others in the marketplace?
Many stairlift companies take an off-the-peg approach to assembling a rail, picking pre-fabricated parts shipped in from other countries and making them fit; Platinum Stairlifts are hand-built in the UK, a fact we are very proud of. This means we can keep a close eye on quality control right through the process, from initial CAD design, to production and final testing. All of our rails are built to fit an exact replica of the customer’s staircase within the factory, ensuring that once it arrives at a customer’s home, it is guaranteed to fit, with a simple and painless installation.
What type of relationship can trade customers expect to have with Platinum Stairlifts if they were to sell your products?
Platinum works with a select network of mobility dealers across the UK and internationally. We insist that all new dealers visit our headquarters to receive training in how to sell, install and maintain our products. We have recently extended this training to include a supervised installation of a lift, where one of our engineers will be on-site to assist the dealer during their first live installation in a customer’s home. All of our dealers are certified by Platinum once their training has been completed. Not all stairlifts are created equally and the more we can educate and support our dealers, the better service they will provide to their customers, whilst strengthening the Platinum brand in the marketplace. What can we expect to see from Platinum Stairlifts over the next 12 months?
Platinum has a continuous Research and Development program, an approach we have taken since we first began manufacturing rails in 1996, and our long term plans are to continue this to improve our offering. We have grown year on year, which has resulted in a steady expansion of our manufacturing facilities; we foresee continued expansion and have recently invested in new machinery and staff to increase our output. In addition to this, we will continue to find new retail partners both in the UK and abroad; we already sell into Europe, the Americas and Australia and look to grow our dealer network in these markets.
What events can we expect to see Platinum Stairlifts at this year and why should retailers/dealers come to see you?
In terms of exhibiting at events, Platinum has scaled back this year but both MD David McQueen and Sales Director Mark McNulty are attending all the major shows and meeting with new partners. They will be attending Rehacare and the OT Show; if any dealers would like to schedule a meeting with them, either at a show or elsewhere, they would love to hear from you!
