We take a minute to get to know one of the leading figures within the independent living sector a little bit better. This issue we caught up with Andrew Stevenson, Sales Director at NRS Healthcare.

What are you most passionate about in your role at NRS Healthcare?

I’m most passionate about bringing solutions and awareness of solutions that exist to the community, wherever that community is. We’ve got a great range of products and services. It’s actually a real challenge to let people know that they are available. We’re very much in a market where we are a need driven market and people need our products and I suppose my passion is to turn around and make them into ‘I want those products’. It’s quite a challenge but I’m sure we’ll get there.

What can we expect from NRS in 2015?

We’ve got a significant range of new product introductions that will be coming on stream throughout the end of 2014 and increasingly in 2015, some expansions and developments on existing products, bringing them up to date and an increasing range of new products coming into market and as the challenges of sort of market channelling come to fore, whereas before the industry’s been very much driven by local authority provision and we’re increasingly seeing a move towards people buying products that are more independent living and not developed with a local authority market in place, then style and design and colour and quality become increasingly important aspects of a product range.

What is your proudest moment in your three and a half years as Sales Director?

I think it’s actually building a successful team of area sales managers, product demonstrators, customer service team that is far more customer focused, far more in tune with the demands of the current marketplace and they are a bunch of people who are caring and professional in what they do and have got the same passion and commitment to drive the business forward so I think building a team that’s made a significant difference and its increased I think NRS’s position in the market that NRS is a serious company, a growing company and that it’s a good place to be.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I’m a passionate supporter of Manchester City Football Club. So in the old adage I’ve been used to 35 years of failure and over recent seasons unbelievable success so I do that, my son joins me on that mission and he’s my wing man as we travel around the country supporting Manchester City but other than that it’s the usual stuff, family and chilling out in that arena. I’m going to be a grandfather for the first time in December so that’s something to really look forward to so we’ll see what that brings us.

What is your dream holiday destination and why?

In my previous career I was fortunate enough to travel all over the world for over 25 years so I’ve got some great favourite places around the world. Once we get to a time we’re able to do so I promised my wife we would probably take a cruise around the world and stop off at some of the places that I’ve been fortunate enough to have been. I think that at the end of the day would be a great thing to do. I was fortunate enough to see those places and it would be lovely to be able to share that with her.
